This project showcases my contribution as a Traditional Layout Artist for the animated feature film Koati, produced by Upstairs Studio.
For this production, I worked entirely using traditional layout techniques—an approach that has become increasingly rare in modern animation pipelines. All layouts were created in black and white, focusing on strong composition, camera staging, character placement, and visual storytelling fundamentals.
Through this work, I aimed to support the narrative by clearly defining spatial relationships, shot continuity, and cinematic flow, while maintaining clarity and readability for downstream departments such as animation and lighting.
This project represents both a technical and artistic exploration of traditional layout practices, emphasizing draftsmanship, precision, and storytelling through line.
